Our preventive cardiology program offers services to our patients who are at a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease. We evaluate our patients for their risk and become partners in their health management by implementing programs to reduce risk factors and prevent cardiovascular disease. Our specialists go into details of the disease management and its prevention by providing scientifically based education to our patients. We discuss in detail regarding various nutritional services, prescriptive exercise programs, stress testing, cardiovascular disease risk-reduction programs and a peripheral vascular rehabilitation program. We educate our patients to make lifestyle changes and determine the best medical treatment plan to:

  • Prevent cardiovascular disease/keep disease from getting worse
  • Reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke
  • Reduce the need for surgery
  • Improve your quality of life by reducing symptoms

The key to preventing cardiovascular disease, also called coronary artery disease (CAD), is managing your risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high total cholesterol, high blood glucose, smoking, physical inactivity and obesity. But how do you know which risk factors you have? The best way to find out is through screening tests during regular doctor visits. We perform routine screening by going through your family history, details of your lifestyle, smoking history and other warning signs. We frequently screen you for the risk of developing CAD by checking your lipid profile, blood glucose monitoring and C-reactive protein. We then discuss these risks with you in detail and work with you closely to implement the best program for you in the management of the disease process. We also screen you for other conditions closely related with CAD such as:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
  • Carotid Aretery Screening
  • PAD Screening
  • Coronary Calcium Score

Sun State Cardiology specializes in PAD diagnosis through a full range of diagnostics including our comprehensive lower arterial and venous evaluations. Our adherence to PAD testing protocols and a systematic approach to identifying your risk for developing PAD. The challenge with this life-threatening disease is at least half of the people who have PAD don't have any signs or symptoms. And, unfortunately, an artery can be blocked by 60 percent before a patient even realizes something may be wrong. By performing routing screening, we intervene early and try to prevent this diease from getting worse by educating you, our patient, regarding life-style modifications, controlling blood pressure, diabetes control, weight reduction, excercise and smoking. We do this by:

  • ABI Screening
  • Carotid Aretery Screening
  • Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Lower extremity venous and arterial duplex
